How did SCS start
What is Combat Jiu Jitsu
Over the past 9 years Head Coach Brian Adams has trained with many of the UK`s top fighters gaining an extensive knowledge of many Martial Arts.
In 2001 Brian was very lucky to meet 5th Dan Jiu Jitsu instructor Graham Turner.
He soon struck up a close relationship with Sensi Turner and trained with him almost every day until his relocation to Cape Town South Africa.
Soon it became apparent there was nowhere local for Brian to learn MMA anymore which made him travel further afield for top quality coaching.
In 2007 Brian had only a few training partners to help him prepare for his fights and after 2 disappointing losses due to poor preparation it was decided a new approach was needed.
He decided to start teaching friends to create his own training partners but was soon was overwhelmed with the response he received from other people wanting to train. He decided to open the club up to the public and South Coast Submissions (SCS) was formed.
In the few years Brian has been teaching, his students have excelled, winning many competitions and amateur titles.
Combat Jiu Jitsu is a fighting system that has been developed by the SCS Coaches for use in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) bouts.
The idea is to cross-train various martial arts taking the best and most effective techniques and combining them into one form. CJJ incorporates techniques from Boxing, Judo, Wrestling, Sambo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to name but a few. It doesn't, however, waste time learning Kata's, Wai Kru's or flashy moves that look good but are of no use. The system is all about teaching you realistic, effective combat techniques that work on opponents offering full resistance.
We have our own grading system which allows the coaches to help each induvidual student develop at his or her own pace, ensuring they are always learning something. It also allows for personal goals to be set by the student.
